Service and Formation

There are opportunities for all at St. Luke's to grow in faith and to offer their gifts in service.

In Worship

To be connected with the staff person or volunteer coordinator for any of these areas, contact our Communications Director

  • Acolytes – Serve at the altar to provide for a richer liturgy.

  • Altar Guild Members– Prepare the church for worship services.

  • Chalice bearers – Assist to administer the chalice at Communion

  • Daily Office Leader – Lead services of Morning and Evening Prayer in our Chapel 

  • Greeters – Our first line of hospitality on Sunday mornings

  • Lectors – Read Scripture or lead the Prayers of the People in our Sunday liturgy.

  • Transportation Volunteers – Provide rides to church for home-bound members 

  • Ushers – Assist members with needs on Sunday mornings; distribute worship bulletins.

In Committees and Special Ministries

  • Environmental Stewardship Committee

  • Birthday card ministry – Send cards with a prayer to members upon their birthday.

  • Buildings and Grounds – Meets monthly to solve issues related to maintenance projects 

  • Convention delegate – Represent our Parish at the annual Diocesan gathering

  • Finance Committee – Meets monthly to review finances of the Parish; guides Vestry.

  • Office volunteers – Assists during office hours.

  • Parish Life – Plan social events and opportunities for fellowship.

  • First Friday Friends- The seniors group at St. Luke's

  • Vestry – Serve on the leadership board of the Parish

Christian Formation 

  • The Adult Forum: Meets Sundays, 9:30am-10:15am, September-May. Led by our clergy or guest facilitators, this meeting is a time for adults to grow in faith through lively discussion. Check our weekly e-mail and calendar of events for details. 

  • Confirmation, Re-Affirmation of Faith, and New Member Classes: These sessions are held each spring. Contact our Rector for more information. 

  • Pathways- Meets Monday evenings at the homes of members. A small group class led by Deacon Bonnie Duckworth.
