Music is a vital part of our worship.
The St. Dunstan's Choir (children in pre K--grade 2) meets Wednesdays 5:00 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. in the children's choir rehearsal room, next to the adult choir room, upstairs in the Parish Hall building. Children in this choir learn the basics of singing, being part of a group, following instructions, and singing joyfully. We sing music that is simple, has distinct rhythmic patterns, and that directs our thoughts to God.
The St. Nicholas Choir (children grade 3 and above) meets Wednesdays 5:45 p.m- 6:30 p.m. in the children's choir rehearsal room. Choristers in this choir are trained in the RSCM Voice for Life program of vocal and musical instruction. Children learn more about membership in a choir, the reading and understanding of music and poetry, the life of the Church, and of course, great music. They sing with the St. Luke Parish Choir and on their own throughout the church year.
The St. Luke's Parish Choir (our adult choir) meets Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. in the choir room, upstairs in the Parish Hall building. Membership in this group is open to any that have a passion for singing God's praise. Singing in the St. Luke's Choir forms bonds of commitment at a deep level. This choir is responsible for providing leadership and offerings of song at the principal liturgies of the Church. Benefits of membership in this group are: vocal instruction, lessons in Church history and theology, occasional lessons in music history and theory, experience in a tradition of liturgical excellence, and long-lasting friendships and fellowship that are second to none.
The Evensong Choir (an adult choir) meets each month on the Friday night prior to the last Sunday of the month starting at 6:00 p.m. Rehearsals are held in the homes of members of this group. Supper is provided following rehearsal. They also warm-up and rehearse on the last Sunday afternoon of each month at 4:00 p.m. They then present Evensong at 5:30 that same evening. This small group is responsible for preparing choral services in the Anglican tradition, singing both with and without organ accompaniment. Singers interested in this group should contact Matt Woods to arrange a brief and informal audition.
The Canterbury Ringers, our handbell choir, rehearses Monday evenings from 7p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the handbell room on the first floor of the Church Parish Hall building. This ensemble is led by Chip Carter.
