Journey to Adulthood
Journey to Adulthood is a youth ministry program of spiritual formation for 6th - 12th grades. It uses Bible study, prayer, rites of passage, outreach ministries and both serious and playful activities to underscore its core principles:
1. Manhood and womanhood are free gifts from God.
2. Adulthood must be earned.
Journey to Adulthood program at St. Luke’s is in a restart phase. Currently Journey to Adulthood is only offered to youth in the 7th and 8th grades. Below is a breakdown of the youth programs in their current form at St. Luke’s.
Rite-13
The first two years (6th & 7th or 7th & 8th graders) of the Journey to Adulthood program that focus on celebrating the individuality of each young person and their creative potential. The Rite-13 liturgy (A celebration of Manhood and Womanhood) is the community expression of this.
Rite-13 or R13 meets on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15 am upstairs in the Canterbury House (parish offices—across the street from the church). The group also gathers monthly and sometimes bi-monthly for evening activities and outings.
Sr. High Youth
The Sr. High Youth Group (grades 9th – 12th) at St. Luke’s meets on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15 am in the youth room (next to the nursery in the parish hall building) for Sunday School. The group also gets together on a monthly/bi-monthly basis for movies, games, plays and other activities.
The Sr. High Youth Group will take a Mission/Camping Trip in June.
