St.Luke's Episcopal Church in Salisbury NC
Message from the Rector

Welcome to our new Parish web site!

Within these pages you will find the faces of a faithful people who are striving to bring restoration and unity, healing and hope to the world. A church is more than four walls and stained glass. A church is more than ritual and tradition and music. A church is made up of people – a people who live and move and have their being showing forth the Good News of salvation they have found in Jesus Christ. These people are a compassionate, generous, kind people making St. Luke’s a holy place because it is a place made up of holy people.

As you look through our site you will see faces that are young and old, black and white, some have hair and others do not. What you will see in these faces is an image of God. An image of God glimpsed in each individual who is created by a loving God. Each a unique image of God that is beautiful and priceless and exquisite like a precious jewel or a fine work of art. These beautiful faces combine to form a beautiful mosaic – of the face of God. So when you look at these lovely faces you see more than age or color or skill or position – you see the body of Christ – alive and well and living in and amongst the inhabitants of Salisbury.

Yes, a church is more than four walls and stained glass. A church – a healthy –active- lively church is made up of a people whose spirit cannot be contained within any four walls. St. Luke’s is made up of just such people and they are a blessing to each other and the world around them.

Thanks for visiting us on-line. If you are looking for a church home please know that regardless of who you are or where you are on your journey - you are welcome here.

Please come join us.

The Rev. Whayne M. Hougland, Jr.
